Rainfall in Lanzarote has decreased during the first half of 2026. According to data from the César Manrique Airport weather station, 68.5 millimetres of rain were recorded from January to June, down from 76.7 millimetres during the same period in 2025—an approximate reduction of 11%.
The year began with a notably wet January, receiving 28.9 millimetres of rain over 13 days. March was also significant, with 31.2 millimetres, making it the second wettest month in the first half. However, as spring progressed, rainfall became increasingly scarce: April saw only 4.4 millimetres, May had a mere 0.8 millimetres, and June ended with no rain at all.
Another notable trend is the number of days with appreciable rainfall. Between January and June, Lanzarote experienced 29 rainy days, significantly down from 46 days in the same period last year. This underscores a trend of irregular weather, with rainfall concentrated in only a few months and a swift shift to drier conditions as spring advanced.
Temperatures for the first half of 2026 remained similar to the previous year, averaging 20.2 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the 20.4 degrees recorded in 2025.
January was cooler than last year, averaging 17.8 degrees compared to 18.4 in 2025. However, February, March, and April saw higher temperatures than in the previous year. May was again cooler than last year, while June’s temperature was nearly identical to 2025, with averages of 23.6 degrees and 23.8 degrees, respectively. Despite fewer rainfall totals compared to last year, overall temperature trends remained stable.
