The Cabildo of Lanzarote has issued a tender for the surveillance service of the Los Volcanes Natural Park. This contract aims to protect, conserve, and maintain one of the most significant natural sites on our island.
This contract involves an investment exceeding one million euros — including €384,916.11 for the last six months of 2026 and a possible one-year extension — and is funded through the Canary Islands Development Fund, managed by the Planning and Project Coordination Department led by Vice President María Jesús Tovar.
“With this contract, we aim to decisively eradicate incivility and inappropriate behaviour that jeopardise the integrity of this protected area, ensuring that both tourists and residents can enjoy a space that fully respects the geology of the environment,” asserts Vice President María Jesús Tovar.
Environment Councillor Samuel Martín states that this contract includes the deployment of “a multidisciplinary team responsible for directly executing essential conservation tasks”. “Specifically, the service will feature a team of wardens who will manage access control and security in the area, workers dedicated exclusively to cleaning tasks, and maintenance staff focused on the restoration and ongoing care of the park’s infrastructure,” he adds.
One significant innovation in this initiative is the inclusion of environmental informers fluent in foreign languages. This staff will engage with visitors on-site, providing information about the rules of the area, regulating visitor numbers, and promoting sustainable mobility practices. Furthermore, they will conduct periodic awareness and education campaigns to teach users about environmental care, ensuring that the tourism experience coexists harmoniously with the preservation of natural heritage.
Interested companies have until 23 June at 09:00 to submit their bids through the State Contracting Platform.
