73 New Social Housing Units in Tamaraceite Sur
New Housing Promotion in Las Palmas
The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the Urban Management Municipal Society (GEURSA), has commenced the bidding process for the construction of a new promotion comprising 74 homes for public protection (VPP) in Tamaraceite Sur. This initiative will involve an investment of €10,768,892.47.
The council explains that this project will complete a set of protected homes aimed at social rental, thereby expanding the public housing stock and providing citizens with access to affordable housing.
Commitment to Public Housing
Mauricio Roque, the Councillor for Planning, Urban Development and Housing, stated in a recent communication that this bidding process represents a significant step forward in the municipal commitment to expand the public housing stock and address one of the primary demands of the citizens. He also noted that the completion of this promotion will make use of an already advanced infrastructure from a construction perspective, optimising public resources and speeding up the availability of 74 new protected homes.
Housing for Diverse Needs
The promotion is designed specifically for social rental and will feature homes of various types to meet the diverse needs of different family units. Additionally, the building will include residences adapted for people with reduced mobility, a community space, and fully accessible communal areas, reinforcing its social and inclusive nature.
Specifications of the Building
The project involves a six-storey building with an underground level located in Tamaraceite Sur, one of the city’s key residential growth areas. The property will accommodate 74 protected homes across the ground to fifth floors, along with 20 storage rooms, two access portals, four lifts, a community room, and various technical facilities for building operations.
The construction works will include all necessary actions to complete the building, from structural reinforcement and enclosures to façade execution, carpentry, interior and exterior finishes, and installations for electricity, plumbing, sanitation, ventilation, telecommunications, fire protection, and renewable energy.
Progress on the Project
The building’s structure is nearly finished, allowing this new tender to resume work and complete a strategic initiative to enlarge the public housing stock of the city. Consequently, the council will be able to provide 74 new protected homes aimed at social rental in one of the main areas of residential growth in the municipality.
Sustainability Initiatives
In terms of sustainability, the project will incorporate systems for the production of sanitary hot water using aerothermal technology and a photovoltaic installation for self-consumption. These measures will enhance the building’s energy efficiency and reduce its environmental impact.
